Saima Khan is a Pakistani stage actress and dancer. Her birth name is Attia Khanum. She was born in Sialkot. Currently she is residing in Lahore. Primarily she performs in Punjabi stage dramas. She has appeared in a few Punjabi movies as well. Unfortunately her Lollywood career has not been successful. She is recognized for exceptional dancing skills. Prior joining showbiz, Saima worked as lady constable in Punjab police. She was trained at Sihala Police College which is located near Islamabad. She is often confused with fellow actress Saima Noor (wife of film maker Syed Noor).

Showbiz Career of Saima Khan

Saima Khan started her professional career by giving dance performances (Mujras) in Punjabi stage dramas. Later on, she started appearing in supporting roles in stage dramas. Right now, she is among the most sought after stage actresses. She has acted in popular stage dramas such as Mehngi Hui Angrai, Kamli, Shor Sharaba, Apple, Baby Sonay Dee, Had Kardi Aapnay, Sohni Manmohni, Hotel CNG, Mohabbat CNG 4 and Chikni etc. Saima is one of top paid actresses of stage dramas. She claims to have received 10 to 12 hundred thousand Pakistani rupees for 15 days drama.

Saima Khan has also tried her luck in films. She appeared in movie Sharif Gujjar (2006) with fellow actor Saud. She also appeared in leading role with actor Babar Ali in movie Bilu Bla (2011). So far, she has not been able to make a successful career in movies.

Scandals and Controversies

Saima Khan is rather notorious than famous. She is the most controversial actress of Pakistani theater.  Many of her dance performances have been objectionable. She is notorious for wearing indecent clothes and making suggestive moves during her dance performances on stage. She is also known for exchanging vulgar comments with her fellow artists in stage dramas.

Saima Khan has a tendency to get in trouble with authorities. Her performance in CD ‘Baybus Kalian’ gained much notoriety. She tore and removed her shirt while dancing on stage in one of her songs. Baybus Kalian went viral. Seven cases of vulgarity were registered against her and the distributors. She was banned from stage dramas for six consecutive months. It took her more than three years to clear charges against her. She maintains that she did what her fellow actresses were doing but only she was punished.

Assassination Attempt

In 2007, Saima Khan was attacked by an unidentified gunman who opened fired at her. She was returning home after performing at a local theater. The incident took place near Iqbal Town Lahore. She was shot multiple times but survived the attack. She was treated at Jinnah Hospital.  When she was asked who her assailants might be, she said that they might be related to show business. Saima Khan received threatening calls afterwards in which she was advised not to perform in theater again. However, she resumed her professional career upon recovery. she has demanded protection from government agencies on a number of occasions. She says that she is a tax payer and entitled to have protection from her enemies.
